ANIMA FUNGI
This work is a mycelium-based sound art sculpture that documents and translates biological growth into music. Throughout the inoculation process, I carefully track the development of the mycelium by photographing its growth at different stages. Selected images from these stages are then digitally scanned, and specific areas within each image are processed using a patch that converts visual data into MIDI notation. The resulting MIDI information allows me to assign and manipulate different instrument samples, transforming patterns of organic growth into structured sound. The final composition is therefore directly shaped by the mycelium itself, creating an evolving dialogue between living material, visual documentation, and sonic expression.
